Sojourner is a biblical word for stranger or foreigner living in a strange land. SHADE works with displaced people in Africa to address some of the causes of displacement. These causes are not limited to war.
SHADE helps displaced people in various ways to resume their lives after war, violence, poverty and includes people from all races, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Through advocacy these people are given a voice to raise awareness of the problems and strunggles they are facing. SHADE advocates for these causes until they are adhered to by the relevant people involved, in order to create peace & justice.
Development means to create opportunities and empower sojourners to build foundations for tomorrow on all levels of life.
Education is vital and is one of the cornerstones of SHADE. It ensures that the processes developed within individuals will continue and will widely and permanently influence their lives and the communities.
